Space for space is an exploration of the different ways we can interact with our surroundings, and how to add a layer of dance or movement to our interactions.

The space contains me, the others, and itself. So we will find ways to dance in this triangle of possibilities. Spontaneous body composition, group compositions and composing with the space around us will allow us to see the public space in a different light, and invite the passerby to change their perspective with us. We will work with principles of improvisation and partnering, and we'll explore concepts like empathy, interconnectivity, imagination, and intuitive reaction.

The event is covered by the Divadlo Štúdio tanca, where the workshop lecturer works. It is the only professional theater in Slovakia dedicated to contemporary dance with a permanent artistic ensemble. They create original dance productions, teach movement courses for children and adults, organize dance festivals, provides artistic residencies and produce many other activities and events that bring contemporary dance closer to the public.

The workshop will be conducted in English.
